OUR MISSION

We believe that the door to salvation is always open and so are the doors to our church. Our mission is to be fully devoted to Jesus by opening our arms to those in search of the truth. We show God’s love and concern for our fellow man at every opportunity. Through works of charity, praise and opening our doors to listen and love, we feel that we are walking in the footsteps of our Lord

OUR MOTTO

"ALL ON ONE ACCORD" ACTS 2:1

 History

Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1905 by Rev. G. W. Symington, who grew the membership from twelve to fifty during his three years as pastor. Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church has had the privilege of having several short-term pastors during its formative years including,

Rev. Amos English,

 Rev. J. H. Chattum,

Rev. John Slaughter,

Rev. D. W. Butler,

Rev. T. H. Short,

Rev. J. L. Lampley.

Rev. Tom Allen Brown

Rev. Felix H. New

Rev. Julius R. Scruggs

Rev. John Perry Jr.

Rev. James McCord

Rev. Mark Sadler

Rev. Charles Willoughby

Rev. David Groves

In 1931 Rev. Felix H. New became pastor and faithfully served for thirty-five years until he retired in March 1965. During his pastorate, the Church building burned, but with fund-raising efforts such as dinners, carnivals, pledges, etc., in 1958 the old portion of our present edifice was built.

---------------------------------

In 1965 when Rev. Julius R. Scruggs became the pastor of Mt. Ararat, the church experienced physical and spiritual growth.

---------------------------------------

Rev. James E. Henry was elected Pastor in 1990 after serving as Interim Pastor from 1989. Under Rev. Henry’s leadership, membership grew steadily and several deacons and ministers were ordained.  On April 7, 2002 we cut the ribbon and started utilization of our present sanctuary and offices. During Rev. Henry’s term as pastor, the church continued to expand in spiritual growth through fellowshipping with other states such as Ohio, Mississippi, New York, Connecticut, and Nassau, Bahamas. After serving as pastor for 28 years, Rev. James E. Henry retired in January 2018.

Rev. Emanuel Barnes was elected pastor of Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in September 2019 - 2022.

As a church that has been around for more than 116 years, praise and worship is manifested in our preaching, testimonies, dancing, singing, praying, fellowshipping, and missionary work. The Mt. Ararat Family is grateful and proud of those that came before us that left an everlasting legacy for us to build onto. We are blessed to have the opportunity to continue to do the work of the Lord in his almighty kingdom.
